Helsinki transport & Finnish Punctuality

Finnish people are punctual. If they say 11 o’clock, is 11′oclock. Even between friends more than 10-15 minutes delay is considered rude. In Spain… how could I say… we take time in a more relaxed way generally 
This photo is the bus schedule from a City Bus in center of Helsinki. 3 main sections: Ma-Pe (Monday-Friday), La (Saturday), Su (Sunday). First row (in bold) you see the hour (18 for example), and the column under represents the minutes (18:10, 18:24, etc.)
Besides of the strange way of representing the timetable, it amazes me its accuracy . If it says there that the bus number 20 is going to be at 18:52 in that stop… it will be there (90% of times). Spanish urban buses timetables normally only say tells frequency (for example “every 15 minutes”).
In Helsinki every year is sent to home a small book containing all routes and timetables of urban transport (bus, metro, tram).
All this is nice, but in the end is paper, very 20th century thing. Is it not supposed to be Finland a high-technology country? Yes, here you have it: a real-time application to know by Internet in what position is each bus and tram of the city, where are the stops, and time left to arrive when you click over the stop.

This is that kind of things that is really easy to get used to it and you miss when you go outside of Finland.

Jejeje, es guay tu blog, no lo conocia, acabo de llegar de casualidad 
Yo estuve en Punkaharju 6 meses viviendo (trabajaba en metla) y lo hecho de menos, la verdad, y eso que m trague todo el invierno, que el invierno alli manda c****
Bueno, a lo que voy, no estoy de acuerdo contigo!!!! El Helsinki a lo mejor son puntuales, pero el tren Parikkala - Savonlinna se retrasa como quiere!!! Yo he llegado a estar hasta 20 minutos esperando con - 25ºC que ya es…porque la estacion de Lusto (la mia) solo la abren en verano, asi que durante 9 meses toca esperar fuera :S

Pues sí illeR, ahora que lo dices estuve un tiempo en un pueblecito las pasadas Navidades.. Parkano. Y los trenes llegaban siempre 12 minutos tarde. Pero como estaba escribiendo sobre Helsinki, no me acordé.
Gracias por el comentario! Seguro que los -25 no los echas de menos pero y cuando llegas a casa? tiene su encanto entrar en casa, quitarse el chaqutón, los guantes y ver la nieve por la ventana bebiendo un poco de Glögi. Estoy deseando que llegue la nieve a Helsinki

Jodé que modesno, o sea que en el mapa aparece la ubicación actual del autobús, y en tiempo real. Puaf que lujazo.
Ahora, no te quejes de los autobuses de España, que en México lo mismo puedes esperar al autobús mas de una hora y luego pasan tres seguidos, que claro como tardaron en pasar por anteriores paradas vendrá la gente colgada de la puerta (literalmente), así que ninguno de los tres se parará, por lo que tendrás que esperar otros 15 minutos al siguiente autobús. y a ver si hay suerte
