Iñaki Amate, Fjord
Tuesday December 2nd, 2008. 01:18 PM.[People].
I’ve seen several times the TV program “Andalusian people around the world” (spanish TV program), but what I didn’t know it’s that exist the same format in other autonomous regions like Aragon. Via the interesting blog of Juan Llaneza, a spanish consultant working in Fjord (Helsinki), I’ve found out this video, where Iñaki Amate, managing director of Fjord shows some aspects of his life in Finland with his wife and son.
Both Juan and Iñaki work in Fjord, a creative company focused in the strategy and digital design of user interfaces, for mobile phones, web and TV. Their offices are strategically placed between Stockman and the Train Station of Helsinki, by the way, a street that I’ve passed many times during my Erasmus year in Helsinki. As you can see in the video, they have take care of the design of the office, it’s inspiring.
Most of Spanish people who are living here, as me, it seems have been put a spell on by a Finnish woman, that probably has met thanks to Erasmus, cupid of international coupes. Due to this and the fact that we are talking about Finland, a country full of technological leader companies plus the quality of life (it’s not everything sun in this life) makes very tempting the idea of develop your professional career in Finland. I’m talking mainly about professions related to technology.
In my case, the name of the sorceress is Päivi and we are almost 2 years together.
Cases as Iñaki, Juan and other people that I’ve found out recently, makes me think that I’m not the only one, you can feel a Spanish community ambient that feels good.
No CommentsqTranslate, writing posts in several languages
Tuesday December 2nd, 2008. 04:03 AM.[About the blog].
This blog has been created with Wordpress 2.6.5, one of the most popular platforms for create blogs nowadays. One of their features since version 2.3 is the possibility of add different widgets, so it makes easier to customize your sidebar.
The widget qTranslate has solved one of the problems that has puzzled me: How to write a blog in both languages, spanish and english. qTranslate offer a very elegant solution, putting a simple button with flag in the sidebar, so you can switch languages easily. Of course, you can set up the widget with the languages that you desire and add new ones, customizing the date format even. For example, in Spain the normal costume it’s to put first the day instead of the month. 31/11/08

After one year finishing my degree in the University of Málaga, I’m here again in Finland. This time is different, there is no “Erasmus bubble”, now I’ve come to integrate in Finnish culture, live their costumes, their language, the way Finnish people think and work. It’s a challenge that fascinates me and I’m ready. In this blog I will reflect my experiences and thoughts.
Let’s start.
